Aditya Chopra has a keen ear for music. So much so that his friends often urge him to do the music of his films, reveals Subhash K Jha.

Dil Toh Pagal Hai from Dil To Pagal Hai
The song had a strong contribution from Adi although all the songs were rightly credited to Uttam Singh.
Yash Chopra, who directed DTPH, once told Subhash there was a lot of his son in the look, sound and mood of the film.

Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jana Sanam from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
The first 2 lines were given to the duo by Adi.
"He used to sing these words Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam."
"We took the start from him and composed our song."

Ghar Aaja Pardesi from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
Adi was very clear his mom would sing this song.
Says Lalit, "We'd never composed a song with a Punjabi flavour."
"Pamji not only introduced us to the right tunes but also the right musical instruments."
"Anand Bakshi saab was told to create a song which would make every Indian away from home feel homesick. He wrote so simply and yet so perfectly."

Humko Hum Hi Se Chura Lo from Mohabbatein
"My most difficult film. Adi's 2nd film after Dilwale... which had our superhit music," says Lalit.
"So the pressure of delivering a hit score was tremendous."
"There were many characters and three different love stories."
"Each song had to be composed and orchestrated according to the characters and their situations.

Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
At 65, Lataji sang for Kajol. And Adi Chopra applauded when she finished.
Recalls Lalit, "The reference Adi gave us for the song was Lataji's Bhai Batoor from Padosan."
"Sairaji throws a pillow stand on a sofa and dances... Kajol does all of that."

Mehndi Lagake Rakhna from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
The song that got Jatin-Lalit DDLJ.
Recalls Lalit, "I sang it out loud for Yashji. The tune stuck in Adi's mind and he asked for it for DDLJ."
"By then we had given it to Firoze Nadiadwala, but it wasn't used. So we gave it to Adi."

Na Jaane Mere Dil Ko Kya Ho Gaya from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
2 different songs fused together, an idea that came from Adi.
Recalls Lalit, "There was no digital programming then. It was all done live."
"We had to record the longest rhythm section of our careers."
"The sound quality of this song is exceptional."
